Reconstructing Roots Music

The Wanted fuse vintage North American folk, blues and country music with rockabilly and rock and roll in a distinctive roots music mash-up. The band performs across Ontario and into Quebec, appearing at festivals, headlining and playing extended residencies at iconic roots clubs, and performing at country fairs and city concerts and special events all over.  AltCountryForum (Europe’s leading roots music publication) describes the band's performances as: “…full of contagious, hip swaying, raucous music…Simply irresistible!” Tracks from The Wanted CD have aired on CBC Radio 1 and many other roots music programs throughout North America and around the world. Serving up offerings from the likes of Patsy Cline to Sheryl Crow, from Hank Williams to Chuck Berry, The Wanted reconstruct an eclectic mix of classics, distilling each song then hijacking the arrangement. Their own material is infused with the spirit of the covers they are wired to—darkly haunting, incisively witty, or just plain fun. The Wanted provide full-throated full-throttle entertainment replete with slick licks and subtly inflected rhythms. The band combines intricate harmonies and traditional instrumentation with unique elements such as washboard, bodhran, cajon, and acoustic lap steel guitar. There’s a small orchestra of instruments here that a mere five musicians manage to deploy with great skill—forging a fresh sound by finding common ground in diverse material. This is a musical experience that audiences are sure to enjoy.

The only returning artists, The Wanted proved so popular last year that we had to have them back for some more folk rock fun.
